With more than 20 years in event production, focusing on high-profile
sports and corporate markets, and most recently premium-event rentals, Crux
Events now is delving deeper into the wedding and social markets in Lake
Tahoe/Truckee.

Scott Corridan recently joined the forces of Crux Events and Party
Rentals, adding his more than 20 years in the social and wedding side of
the special events industry.  ”I believe, with Scott’s expertise, Crux will
become an all-encompassing service provider for the area’s wedding and
social-event markets, as well as meeting a variety of evolving and
ever-changing corporate needs,” Crux Event’s James Woodruff said.

Woodruff has managed global programs for such international brand names as
Red Bull, Target, Sportsmark and the X Games. In 2008, Corridan was named
by In-Style magazine as one of the top 10 celebrity event producers in the
country. Combined, their celebrations have been featured in Martha Stewart
Weddings, ABC, Town & Country, ESPN, NBC and The Robb Report among many
other media outlets. Corridan has appeared on a variety of television
programs including Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, HGTV’s Design
Star and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Wedding Edition.  Corridan said luxury
hotel properties will especially benefit from Crux’s new and expanding
inventory of ‘Sierra’ themed items and objects.

“It means that a luxury hotel property in Lake Tahoe can have the same
kind of assets and benefits as one in New York or L.A,” says Corridan,
adding that this is an opportunity for these properties to gain stronger
event branding as well.

Crux’s inventory includes hand-woven wicker chairs, burnished copper
finish bistro chairs and a handsome leather lounge collection. Crux now
also offers wrought iron old world chandeliers with crystal drop accents
and silk shades, as well as al fresco string lights with ruffled metal
light shades.

invitationA wedding is a happy event full of joy for two people creating a life together. Working with couples to help them shape their vision for their wedding

day is truly a pleasure. Wedding invitations will set the tone for your wedding and shape the décor of your venue, the cake, the flowers, the tables,

photography, your favors and much more. Once we have designed your invitations, everything will start to come together. Because the wedding stationary is handcrafted and customized to the bride and groom it has become a keepsake for many couples and their guests.

Nevada County is a magical place for your wedding, with a variety of very talented vendors in the area for your convenience. Your guests will enjoy their time spent in the area as well. I have always called Nevada County my home and continue to feel fortunate to live and work here. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from California State University, Chico and a Certificate of Clothing Design from Sacramento City College. Merging these two areas of study into designing wedding stationary packages with beautiful paper, ribbon, illustrations, hand painting, typography and more that reflects the couple’s personalities is a dream for me.

However, whether you live in the area or in another state, I am happy to collaborate with you on your wedding project. If we can’t meet in person, we can meet over the phone or by email, the information is gathered in the same way. I will do some research and gather some materials and mail you one or two samples for your approval. Revisions are made and when it is approved production begins.

I look forward to meeting and working with you. My goal is to provide you with a product that exceeds your expectations and will be a simple and positive experience.

I offer free consultations. Call me, Phyllis Orzalli, at 530.913.8473 and visit my website at www.studio-nine-design.com

We’ve probably all heard the wives tale  “don’t get a facial before your wedding”,  accompanied by drastic warnings of what will happen if you do.   Although it’s true that getting a chemical peel or your first ever brow wax the day before your wedding is not a good idea, this shouldn’t steer you away from setting aside for yourself to relax and be pampered with a relaxing facial the week before your wedding.  This last week can be quite hectic, and a facial may come as a welcome retreat to get centered and relaxed amongst the bustle.

Yet if your skin is feeling the stresses of aging and environmental damage,  as most of our skin is, an early visit to your esthetician could have your skin glowing by wedding day.  By starting  out 2-6 months before your wedding, your esthetician can create a treatment plan to effectively reduce the signs of aging, lighten dark spots, and even the texture of your skin so that your complexion is radiant and fresh for your big day. It’s definitely possible to reverse the signs of environmental damage and get beautiful glowing skin, but this doesn’t happen overnight says Marica Lane, Spa Director at Bon Bon Salon in Grass Valley. Remember, it took years to cause the damage, don’t be fooled to think it can be safely reversed overnight.  Often quick fixes such as abrasive techniques and harsh chemical treatments can  cause more stress and damage on the skin than benefit.

Marica recommends this simple timeline for picture perfect skin:

2-6    months before the wedding: visit esthetician for treatment plan to correct pigmentation, texture, and break-outs.

6-8 weeks:  If you’ve never had your brows waxed, then this is the time to start. You’ll want to get them shaped first, and allow time to get used to your new beautiful brow.

4 weeks before: trail run with your hair and make-up. The importance of having your make-up done by a professional is priceless.  Professional make-up artists know how to apply make-up to best highlight your features on camera. This is a very important aspect of looking beautiful in your professional photographs.

3-4 days before wedding: a relaxing facial, massage, and final brow wax. This is your time to be relax, be pampered, and indulge in being “the Bride””

1 day before wedding: Manicure and Pedicure.  This is a great way to spend the afternoon with your bridesmaids before the wedding. It’s best to have your nails done the day prior to the wedding, as your actual wedding day will be filled with so many other things.

Day of wedding: Professional hair and make-up.

_JK20299_BarnAtNightTalk with someone who’s been to River Highlands Ranch, and invariably the word “magical” enters the conversation. There is something about the Ranch that captivates the hearts and imagination of all that come. Perhaps it’s the stunning natural beauty of a twilight evening, or the quiet serenity that comes from being “on the land”… or the warm conversation that flows so naturally in the inviting leather chairs in the Vineyard Barn and under the stars around the embers of the outdoor fire pit. Or maybe it’s an exquisite meal in the company of friends who are open and alive to experiencing life to its fullest.

Whatever the case, it is an experience that is meant to be shared.

Founded in 1999, the 600-acre ranch represents a desire is to combine the best in environmental, economic and social sustainability with a deep love of the arts and community – what some might call “articulture”. By design, it is both a working ranch and a gathering place where relationships can be built and savored. Simply put, it’s all about the love of nature, of people, of community, of music — a haven of casual elegance that is both invigorating and inviting.

Nestled in the foothills of northern California adjacent to Spenceville Wildlife Refuge, the Ranch is located one mile south of the Yuba River near historic Grass Valley / Nevada City and is just 2-1/2 hours from San Francisco.

We host private events by referral and invitation and we hope that you will be able to join us sometime soon so that you too can experience the magic of River Highlands Ranch.

Although things are slowed down a bit for the winter, wedding planning doesn’t take a break. So, our real life wedding tip for today is to Plan Ahead and lock in your key vendors now!

I’ve heard many brides say “I still have a year before the wedding, I’ve got plenty of time” only to be disappointed that their venue is booked, or the photographer they had their heart set on is booked. You certainly do have time for the details, but not for securing your date and vendors. It’s not even 2010, and I already have dates booked in June 2011! Also, with the new year around the corner many vendors raise their prices annually to keep up with inflation. By booking early you can often lock in the current years prices, which can mean big savings! So put first things first, get your key vendors on board, and then you can take a break and focus your attention on the really fun aspects of planning your wedding- all the little details that will make your day perfect!
